Holland Point Oyster Feast
I wouldn't miss it. The weather was amazing and the oysters were FAT! It was great seeing everyone again!
Captain Avery Oysterfest
Always a good time, good food, good bands and lots of fun with our friends and neighbors. I was very privileged to have Senator Elfreth join me in presenting a citation recognizing the Capt Avery Museum on their 25th year of Oysterfest
Deale Open House Event
We all had a good time seeing everyone at the Deale VFD open house
DPW Meeting
I was happy to attend the DPW meeting to support another outstanding accomplishment for the district. This project will create a living shore line in the waters around Franklin Manor. This will help stop erosion, expand natural habitat and create more bay grass.
American Legion - Outstanding Legislator Award
I cannot express in true detail how honored and humbled i was to be chosen as one of the top legislators in Maryland to receive this award. Only two House and two Senate members are picked every year. Not only as legislator, but mostly as a veteran, I want to take a moment and again thank all who have helped me in my pursuit of fighting for veterans issues. I speak from experience when I say that our work, especially the work pertaining to treatment for those men and women who suffer with PTSD, will not just reconnect veterans with their families, communities and loved ones, it will save lives.
July 4th Parades
Hot but fun! Who doesn't love July 4th? Evey year, I always look forward to bringing Uncle Sam and Snoopy with me to all the parades in the district.
Smithsonian Environmental Research Center Ribbon Cuttin
I was very honored to have been asked to attend and briefly speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony for SERC. Their research has played an important role in not just monitoring but also helping to form policy that improves the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Also, I enjoyed my opportunity to speak with Lonnie Bunch, the 14th Secretary of the Smithsonian.
A little sailing on the Bay!
I've heard it said before that the best boat...is a friends boat. I think that might be true!
Southern and South River High School Graduation Ceremonies
Graduating high school is a big for step for a young person. I make it a point to attend the graduation ceremonies every year. I always look forward to congratulating many of the new graduates and letting them know how proud everyone in the community is of them.
Memorial Day
Every year I join with Deale Historical Society, American Legion Post 226 in Mayo and local groups throughout the district to speak about, honor, remember and place flags on the tombstones of our local veterans. This year I had the privilege of joining one of our local Girl Scout Troops as we placed over 80 flags.

Trash clean up on Mayo Penninsula
The rural nature and beauty of Soco is not just our way of life but it is also our gift to Anne Arundel Co and I'll always fight to keep it that way! That's why I was one of the people on the side of the road picking up trash and clearing debris from wooded areas. We removed a lot of glass and metal from the wooded lot (which is really good since it was a feeder into the Bay).
Skipper's Pier 10th Anniversary Celebration
Another amazing restaurant in Soco. I was very excited to come out to congratulate Dave, Jessica and the folks at Skipper's on their 10th Anniversary!
FFA Banquet and Awards Ceremony
What a great group of deserving young people. I am always honored to support our FFA.
Gas Tax Relief
I was incredibly happy to support legislation that would lower gas taxes. This gave millions of Marylander's some relief from rising costs in almost every economic sector. Unfortunately, this relief was only for 30 days. Although I, along with every republican in the House of Delegates, supported extending this legislation for an additional 45 days, the liberals in Annapolis disagreed and the initiative failed along party lines.
South River High Storm Damage
We all know about the tornado that damaged South River High and some homes in the surrounding area. I was on site immediately after to help coordinate with BGE and MEMA. I also immediately reached out to the insurance commissioner to make sure they would have reps at the Southern Dist Police station to help with anyone needing to file claims.
WW2 Memorial Clean Up in Annapolis
Senator Elfreth and I joined forces for the day to rake, weed, pick up litter and mulch the WW2 Memorial in Annapolis.
Wee Heart Auto Body Grand Opening
Another great business opens in Edgewater! Being a small business owner myself, I absolutely love attending grand openings and business anniversaries.
Pre Covid Session 2020
It's interesting to see the stark contrast between the beginning and end of the 2020 session. We started on a high note, having just elected the first African American and woman as Speaker. We ended session unsure and in masks.
Southern High Graduation 2021
I have attended every graduation ceremony for Southern and South River High since I was elected in 2015. It is always great to watch young people walk across the stage and into the next chapter in their life.

What a fantastic day! Another local business hiring in SoCo
Oyster Fest!
Another successful Oyster Fest at the Captain Avery Museum in Shadyside!
Ribbon Cutting at the new Senior Activity Center in Lothian

Fighting for South County!
Having a great debate on the floor of the House of Delegates. I will always stand and fight for our local businesses, jobs, schools, environment and families!
For a great SoCo cause! SCYA and SDS
So using this as a poll, I must be doing a good job. Not a lot of people wanted to dunk me! Not to worry though, thanks to a local youth baseball player, I went home soaking wet!
With Gov Hogan and Lt Gov Rutherford

Ren Fest Hearing
It's was packed house at the Anne Arundel County Chambers this evening concerning the proposed relocation of Ren Fest to South County. I stand with my South County friends and neighbors who oppose this move.
